Elisa

Elisa, also known as Elisa Media Center, has been one of the best open source projects to transform our computer into a real media center from which to access videos, films, music, images and any other multimedia contents.

  To do so, Elisa provides an attractive an simple interface, through which we can easily browse the menus in search of our favorite multimedia files.

  One of the most eye-catching features of this project is the possibility to control the application remotely, as long as we have a compatible device, so that we can comfortably access any of the contents stored on our hard drive or that can be found over Internet.

  The main features of Elisa are:
- Quick access to videos, music and photographs.
- Detection of external storage devices like USB pendrives and peripherals like cameras, iPods, etc...
- Support for video streaming services like Daily Motion, YouTube, Picasa, Flickr,...
- Compatibility with a vast amount of multimedia formats: H.264, MPEG 2, MPEG4, QuickTime, Windows Media, Ogg Vorbis, Matroska, etc...

  Currently the development of Elisa has finished and it has given way to its successor, known as Moovida. It is another great multimedia center with an improved very intuitive interface that Elisa fans shouldn't miss.
